I’ve been in nursing for over 20 years, the first 10 years as an RN in acute care, and the latter years as an NP in primary care. I’ve been teaching in the NP program at UBC for almost 10 years. And I work in clinical practice as a nurse practitioner with Vancouver Coastal Health in the downtown east side at a community health center. I am currently a PhD Candidate in Nursing with UVIC, going into my 6th year! My doctoral work focuses on Indigenous health and health care inequities and how cultural safety can be enacted to create positive and safe health care experiences for Indigenous people.
